Urban renovation has become another approach for urbanization after the rapid growth of China city. In 2016, Shanghai Planning and Land Resources Administration announced four action plans of urban renovation, launched the plan of “Walk-in-Shanghai: Micro-renovation of community space” and advocated for the spirit of “Joint Development, Cooperated Governance and Shared Use” in urban governance. This issue will focus on the “Micro” renovation of community. There are two major aspects in the current community renovation: “Micro” and “Participation”. Multiple subjects who want to participate in community renovation needs to find their roles and learn how to participate with certain pace. Community renovation should also be conducted under some framework and in an organized way. The second half of this issue will introduce a community micro- renovation project initiated by a new media operation team in the Yuyuan Road of Shanghai (location between Jiangsu Road and Dingxi Road).
