Recently, the 2019 Shanghai Outstanding Young Engineering Surveyors and Designers Award has finalized their 105 winning designers, through a comprehensive selection process of material collection, qualification review, online voting, and assessment from authoritative experts. The award was sponsored by the Shanghai Exploration & Design Trade Association and organized by the Construction Times newspaper. Three designers from our firm were selected, among which, Dong Weiwei won the title of "Outstanding Young Engineering Surveyor and Designer" in the architect section, while Zhou Zhen and Jiang Yi were made finalists in the engineer section.
Award Winning Designers
Outstanging Award:
Mr. DONG Wei Wei has been engaged in architecture design for over 20 years, and as a practice-oriented architect, he has designed many large city public buildings. He has designed many education, culture, hotel buildings as well as commercial complexes, and has shown strict implementation of design standards, integrated treatment for project difficulties and deep insight of structure, space, materials and technologies. He has completed challenging architecture works and has won many design awards in and abroad China. Under his leadership, his team has won many national and major municipal projects, including 2014 APEC host hotel and the gift project for the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return in 2019. He sticks to the firm belief that architecture aims at satisfying both behavior needs and spiritual needs of the people, hopes to bring not only enjoyable spatial experiences but also enjoyment of beauty to the people, instead of becoming a mere formality of self-expression.
Finalist:
Mr. ZHOU Zhen has been engaged in construction structure design for 20 years and has designed many projects in 21 provinces and over 50 cities in China. He has designed the renovation of Beijing Jinyan Hotel, which won First Award of survey and design with Shanghai Survey and Design Association and Jingang Award. He sticks to the design concept of “Diligent in exploring details and emphasizing in controlling the whole picture”. He is good at starting from the project facts, learning from the project experiences, understanding and utilizing design standards, solving project difficulties, focusing on client needs, taking up social responsibilities, adopting technology innovation and creating values from design. He also serves roles in industry associations and participated in nearly 20 review works for Shanghai Housing and Urban-rural Construction Management Committee, Scientific and Technical Committee.
Mr. JIANG Yi has the experience of working in a Class-A design institute for over 20 years, he has designed many projects over China, and has proved excellent designing and consulting capabilities in super high-rise buildings, hotel buildings, commercial complex, office buildings, exhibition center buildings and etc. He has won national and municipal awards for many times. He has also been invited as expert of Shanghai Industry Committee, and engaged in evaluating more than 30 construction projects, including many major municipal projects, such as the largest exhibition construction project in China and Hongqiao business district large-scale urban complex. He focuses on the combination of academic learning and design experience, has published dozens of academic thesis on professional journals, and has contributed a lot for the development of architecture design industry.

About this Award
The Shanghai Outstanding Young Engineering Surveyors and Designers Award aims to promote innovation and professional commitment among young designers, highlight their role and outstanding contribution in the field of urban construction, and foster young design talents. By selecting winners for this award, the Shanghai Exploration & Design Trade Association identifies role models within new designers, opens the way for their growth, and cultivate master talents for the industry. The prize is awarded every two years.
