Urban Transition and Public Livelihood in the High-Speed

Since the opening of the Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway, China's first high-speed railway in 2008, China has been accelerating into a “high-speed rail era” for all. In reality, high-speed rail performs as a catalyst for the upgrading of various industries and the development of urban space. However, the internal drive for such changes still lies in the cities and their industries. The increase in speed is similar to a reduction in the distance of cities throughout the country, which expands their flow of passengers and goods, fosters capital-driven industries, and generates a significant impact on regional economy. On the feast of high-speed rails is a cake of trillions of yuan. New cities have sprung up and become development focuses for local governments. To maximize the effect of high-speed rails requires the support and cooperation of multiple parties. The sharing of regional resources, policy support, and the promotion of financial ability are all indispensable conditions.
