HDD Lecture: New Regulations on Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Zero-carbon Buildings

2022/07/06     Author: HDD

On the afternoon of July 1st, HDD Chief Engineer Office organized an internal seminar with the theme of "New regulations on energy efficiency in buildings and zero-carbon buildings". The purpose of the activity is to help architects learn the key contents of the General Code for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Application in Buildings and the General Code for The Built Environment, and to discuss the possible problems in practical application.

Chief architect Yi Shen hosted the event and said that in the context of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, it is necessary for architects to learn the new rules of building energy efficiency. He stressed that in the process of building design, we should compare the new rules with the old, focus on key points, and effectively implement the new rules into design.

Lecture 1: The Impact of the General Code for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Application on Architectural Design

Speaker: Qi Yu  Deputy General Manager and Deputy Chief Architect of HDD

Deputy chief architect Qi Yu gave a detailed introduction to the provisions of the new regulations. She emphasized the mandatory requirements of the provisions and explained the leading ideas of the national standard compilation system. In particular, she suggested that we should design according to the climate zone where the project is located, and the preliminary architectural plan should focus on the building orientation, shape coefficient, window-wall ratio, facade shading and solar energy system.

Energy saving design is a whole process design. It is an inevitable trend to design with green building thinking. In the design stage, the integration of building facade and shape for energy saving design and solar energy building should be considered.

Lecture 2: The Introduction of Zero-Carbon Buildings and Carbon Emission Calculation

Speaker: Yuhua Mei  Drector of Green Architectural Design of HDD

Zero-carbon building is a new type of energy-saving building to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality, which is also the future development direction advocated by the government. The carbon emission calculation report is proposed in the General Code for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Application in Buildings. It is one of the reports that need to be provided in the feasibility study report, the architectural dsign plan and the preliminary design document.

Yuhua Mei, director of green architectural design, introduced the concept of zero-carbon buildings and carbon emission calculation, and she gave examples of new and old zero-carbon buildings at home and abroad, such as Apple Park, Google headquarters and some other projects, and she introduced some practical and advanced technologies used in zero-carbon buildings.
