2017/07/06      Author: HDD

The 2017 Red Dot Design Award was unveiled on July 4, 2017. The Transformable Smart Home project produced by HDD won the “Best of the Best” for interior architecture.

It is a renovation project of a 20 sq m loft in Beijing. HDD created a versatile architectural system based on the principle of movable floor plates that can be configured to fit different living space scenarios, which is quite an innovation in interior architecture around the world. The owner of the loft is a young couple working and living in Beijing. The rising house price in the city forces the young city dwellers in China to live in very small space. But the success of this project proves that innovation can provide new possibilities and solutions to issues like this in the modern life.
