International Perspective
In its more than twenty years’ history, Shanghai HuaDu Architecture and Urban Design Group (HDD) has transformed from a one-stop service provider focusing on residential design to a design firm that specializes in public cultural architecture, commercial complex, office, educational architecture, healthcare, residential, and so forth that the architectural profession has to offer. Honoring originality in design, HDD established a global strategy basing on domestic experience. In 2016, the Bangladesh HuaDu Architecture and Urban Design Co. Ltd. was established to expand HDD’s service territory in Asia and globally. Currently, HDD has projects in over 180 cities, spread out in 4 continents around the world.
In 2017, HDD and its subsidiary company “Urban China Magazine” established the Urban Bangladesh Institute (UBI). As a non-profit think tank, UBI is committed to providing urban development research and consulting services for the Bangladeshi government and associated city makers. In the same year, UBI held the first urban research conference in Bangladesh.
In addition, HDD has won multiple awards, including winning the Red Dot Award for two consecutive years, the iF Design Award, the Plan Award, the World Architecture News Award, and several World Architecture Festival awards. HDD has also presented in some of the awards to share its experience. In 2018, HDD participated the Venice Architecture Biennale, with the topic of "Media and Rural Architecture", introducing the idea of branding into rural development in the new media age. Around the same time, HDD participated in the World Architecture Festival 2018 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
