On April 22, the Shanghai Prefabricated Building Summit Forum and the Inaugural Conference of the Yangtze River Delta Building Industrialization Development Union and the Awards Ceremony of 2020 "Real Estate Residential Development Cup" Shanghai Prefabricated Building Design Contest were successfully held at the Citic Pacific Zhujiajiao Jin Jiang Hotel.

The conference commended the excellent enterprises, advanced collectives and advanced individuals of the 4th Shanghai Prefabricated Building Design Contest. Dr. Yu Qi, Deputy General Manager and Deputy Chief Architect of HDD, was entitled the Advanced Individual. Moreover, at the Awards Ceremony of 2020 "Real Estate Residential Development Cup" Shanghai Prefabricated Building Design Contest, the design scheme "Urban Dream Home" led by Dr. Yu Qi won the Finalist Award.

Ms. YU Qi, First-class National Registered Architect, Senior Architect, and expert of Shanghai Housing and Urban-rural Construction Management Committee Scientific and Technical Committee, is currently the Deputy General Manager and Deputy Chief Architect of HDD. She has been committed in architectural design for 20 years and has lead and completed over 100 design projects in and abroad China, many of which have been awarded with Gold Award of Architectural Society of China for National classic building. She has been focusing on large living community planning, residence design and school buildings design, and is especially good at innovative design, detail-oriented control and high-level completion for residential buildings. She is also active in academic field and has published a book of monograph, “The Production and Evolution of Layout of Urban Residential Space in Shanghai of Transformation Stage” and dozens of other academic articles in magazines.

In active response to the call of Shanghai Municipal Management Committee of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Shanghai Construction & Development Association for advancing the development of prefabricated buildings in Shanghai, Dr. Yu Qi has leaded the HDD's design team to explore the major changes brought about by prefabricated building while keeping pace with the times. Striving to achieve the organic integration of technological innovation and design creativity in prefabricated architectural design, she is good at exploring the multi-dimensional balance of design in usage, development and implementation, and establishing scientific and reasonable design concepts and approaches. Her efforts aim at making a positive contribution to the sustainable and sound development of prefabricated buildings in Shanghai and even the whole country.

Finalist for Shanghai Prefabricated Building Design Contest

Since the 2020 "Real Estate Residential Development Cup" Shanghai Prefabricated Building Design Contest was launched in October last year, after several rounds of strict scheme evaluation and selection by a team lead by architectural experts, the design scheme "Urban Dream Home" successfully entered the final evaluation stage and won the finalist award issued by the organizers of the contest.

The design scheme submitted by HDD, based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, targets at creating a "one-stop metropolitan fantasy life" community. Through design and the layout of software and hardware facilities, the design proposal attempts to achieve the needs of young people for modern life in terms of "integration, culture, convenience, wisdom, ecology, and high-end".

In the scheme, apart from a 3,000-square-meter external rental commercial and time-sharing office area required by the project design, an approximately 850-square-meter "UDH Life Cluster" integrating community-shared public space, outdoor theater, time-sharing rental office area, and exclusive rooftop garden has been set up. The staggered layouts of the three stand-alone buildings, abundant interior and exterior spaces, and the friendly urban interface have been highly recognized by the experts.

In the prefabricated construction scheme, the different residential suites are spliced together through the unified depth of the buildings. According to the suite types, the uniform specification of prefabricated parts can be achieved. Prefabricated connection are standardized and well designed to reduce installation difficulty. The implementation of new technology such as non-dismantling compound heat-preservation board can effectively reduce the prefabrication of vertical components and improve construction efficiency as well as following inspection efficiency.

In the future, HDD will continue to explore the balance between architects' creativity and industrialized standardization for buildings, and make every endeavor to promote the transformation of the construction industry to intelligent industrialized construction approaches.
