Imagine the Clinic as an upscaled immune system that, such as the one inside the body, acts as a network of organs (medical equipments), and cells (holes and balconies in the facade) to protect the patients.
White blood cells, the leukocytes, are an essential part of the immune system. They play a vital task defending the bodies from potential threats such as bacteria, viruses and other external substances. They protect the patients from inside, as the Clinic from outside.
The building consists fundamentally in two juxtaposed functional blocks. The lower one containing reception functions and the one on its top with lab, doctor rooms and hospitality functions for inpatients. This second block is surrounded by a metal enevelope perforated by "organic" holes.
