From August 27th to 28th, China and the United States held a new round of strategic communication meetings at Yanbai Villa in Beijing. This villa, blending natural beauty with modern design, was developed by Wild Goose (Yanqi Island) Hotels & Resorts, a member company of Beijing Enterprise Real-Estate Group. It was designed in collaboration with Pritzker Prize winner Wang Shu, Shanghai HuaDu Architecture & Urban Design Co., Ltd. (HDD), and WATG/Wimberly Interiors. HDD was responsible for the deepening of architectural, interior, and landscape design schemes, preliminary design, and construction drawings for this project.

Yanbai Villa is not only a premier boutique themed museum hotel, but also a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). Its location is exceptional, nestled against green mountains, overlooking a lake, and surrounded by small ridges on either side. To the south, it faces across the lake from another HDD masterpiece, the Sunrise Oriental Kempinski Hotel, which served as the main venue for the APEC Conference in Beijing in 2014 and the host for the “Belt and Road” International Summits in 2017 and 2019.
the Sunrise Oriental Kempinski Hotel
As a new landmark of Yanqi Lake International Convention Center, Yanbai Villa made its debut in the 24th China-France Strategic Dialogue held in 2023. It has attracted attention and coverage from major media outlets such as CCTV, China Global Television Network, Phoenix Satellite Television, and Xinhua News Agency. Together with the Sunrise Oriental Kempinski Hotel, Yanbai Villa serves as a high-level conference reception space for the Yanqi Lake International Convention Center, contributing to national diplomatic activities and enhancing China's engagement with the world.
The design of Yanbai Villa draws inspiration from the landscape paintings of the Song Dynasty in China. The overall layout of the site is based on Wang Ximeng's “A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains” from the Northern Song Dynasty, while the architectural elements and landscape structures are inspired by Liu Songnian's “Landscapes of the Four Seasons” from the Southern Song Dynasty. The northwest facade and lobby walls of the hotel feature traditional materials such as richly colored ancient glazed bricks, ceramic tiles, roof tiles, old and new blue bricks, and stones, showcasing a distinctive technique of colorful glazed mosaic walls and roofing. The space design centers around the conference center's functional area, the "Gongzi Hall", creating diverse functional spaces while fully considering the scenic views and walking experience, making one feel as if immersed in a dynamic scroll painting.
