Beijing Sunrise East Kempinski Hotel

The Sunrise Kempinski Hotel in Beijing is a lakefront hotel south of Yanqi Lake, in Huairou District, Beijing. Sitting across the Yanqi Lake International Conference Centre, the hotel offers great natural views of the Yanqi Lake and surrounding hills, enjoying excellent ecological benefits. It provided venue for the APEC China 2014, and the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation 2017 and 2019.

The design concept is built on the traditional Chinese ideal that man is in harmony with nature, and takes inspiration from the rising sun to create an architectural form that harmoniously coexists with water and hills. The design strives to create a "breathing" ‒ organic and ecological ‒ building through various sustainable design and construction approaches.  Throughout all design aspects ‒ site plan, architectural layout, massing, details, tectonics, interior and landscape design, energy consumption analysis, the project offers a multi-layered delivery of the design concept that underlines the ecology between man and nature.
