Yanbai Villa

Situated in the Yanqi Lake Convention Center in Beijing, at the southern foothills of Yanshan and beside Yanqi Lake, this museum hotel is a collaborative masterpiece by Pritzker Prize laureate Wang Shu and Shanghai HuaDu Architecture & Urban Design Co., Ltd. (HDD).

The design of Yanbai Villa draws inspiration from the landscape paintings of the Song Dynasty in China. The overall layout of the site is based on Wang Ximeng's “A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains” from the Northern Song Dynasty, while the architectural elements and landscape structures are inspired by Liu Songnian's “Landscapes of the Four Seasons” from the Southern Song Dynasty.

The northwest facade and lobby walls of the hotel feature traditional materials such as richly colored ancient glazed bricks, ceramic tiles, roof tiles, old and new blue bricks, and stones, showcasing a distinctive technique of colorful glazed mosaic walls and roofing. The space design centers around the conference center's functional area, the "Gongzi Hall", creating diverse functional spaces while fully considering the scenic views and walking experience, making one feel as if immersed in a dynamic scroll painting.
